Chromate Conversion - The Process
This process is a non-electrolytic process for coating aluminium. Whilst it does not have the same wear properties as sulphuric acid anodising and is not suitable for colour dyeing, it is more pliable and provides an excellent surface for paint and bonding.
Malden are experienced in the three processes most commonly used throughout the industry, namely Alocrom 100, Alocrom 1000, and Alocrom 1200, each have their own specific uses
Alocrom 1200
Alocrom 1200 provides an iridescent gold coating, offering good durability
and medium electrical conductivity. It also provides an excellent key for
applying a paint finish.
